It’s The Final Countdown (Teammate Challenge Update)

It’s the Final Countdown, people!

Well, the final countdown for the 8-week Kosama Teammate Challenge. Today kicked off day 1 of week 7 and I stepped up on the Tanita scale to get an idea of where I’m at and what I can work toward in the next two weeks. Here’s the Tanita progress:

For me, the Tanita measurements aren’t the final word, just another measurement to track and follow, and in this case, the measurement that tells our trainers how I stack up against the other challengers.

Per Tanita, in six weeks I’ve seen a 3.6% loss in body fat (a 7lb loss in fat – woot!), and a 5.4lb gain in muscle. My teammate and husband Z, has seen a 4.9% loss in body fat (a 10.4lb loss in fat) and a 6.8lb gain in muscle. We don’t get to see everyone that works out since there are eight classes per day, and of those we have seen there are a number of people who probably bust ass more than we do and are in a better position to lose a significant amount of body fat, so I try not to delude myself into thinking that we actually will win, but I enjoy the challenge of believing we can win.

So I’m going to keep trucking, and schedule my next appointment with my favorite nutritionist, Katie to get my caliper measurements and an accurate gauge on this last month’s progress. And in the meantime, I need to knuckle down on my nutrition. Comparing my results with less working out over the same time period last year, I had a loss of about 5.61% body fat. I don’t think I’m quite that close this time around, so I need to up the veggies, bust out the measuring tools more frequently, and maybe hide my Savannah Smiles girl scout cookies in the back of my pantry until this first challenge is over.

And at any rate, I have a 6-year anniversary to celebrate in one month and I want to look my best! So I’m going to work on this mantra:
