TFG Recommends: Lush T’eo Deodorant Bar

TFG Recommends: Lush T’eo Deodorant Bar

My whole life it seems I have been in a (losing) battle against my body. The slightest increase in room temperature, any extra movement of my body, a shirt a bit too snug or thick or simply made of the wrong fabric, and I sweat excessively. I have tried just about every antiperspirant product out there that claims to destroy odor like Godzilla and punch perspiration right in the nuts. They don’t work. I’ve overpaid for “clinical” and “prescription” strength products for nearly a decade. I’ve tried “natural” products like Tom’s, and even Crystal (or something very similar) once. lavanilaI was turned on to Lavanila Natural Deodorant (vanilla lavender scent) about a year ago and it was alright, and I still keep a small one in my purse as a backup, but it didn’t seem to last the entire day and I always felt smelly when it started to wear off (in it’s defense, I probably hadn’t stopped using Secret Clinical long enough to get all of the aluminum or whatever the hell else is in there out of my system). So after doing two rounds of Whole30 and trying to further minimize chemical use in my house, I decided to seek out other options once again. I won’t try to argue against traditional antiperspirants, as there are SO many conflicting claims about whether the cause any harm to you and I don’t have time to write a diatribe that someone else has likely already written, but I can tell you this much: at no point during the decade in which I used clinical strength antiperspirants did they ever stop me from perspiring. And what is the point of antiperspirant if you are still sweating through everything you wear? teoSo I did some googling (damn it spell check, that is totally a word now!) and came across LUSH T’eo Deodorant Bar, which is scented with tea tree oil and citrus  and made with a majority of natural ingredients (which their website conveniently defines/describes by clicking on ANY ingredient in the list). At about $9 for a bar, it’s a steal compared to Lavanila ($2.89 per ounce vs. $8.24 per ounce), and even less than what I have been paying for the clinical stuff (about $4.60 per ounce). Also, I LOVE smelling like citrus. Sure, people clean their house with that scent, but maybe that’s why I associate smelling like citrus with smelling super clean. T’eo needs to be applied on dry underarms, so I took a shower and went to bed without putting anything on (I figured it would allow for extra time for my last use of antiperspirant to wear off). The first day I wore it, I felt it was wearing off toward late afternoon and that I was starting to smell again, but within a few days, that feeling/smell went away completely. And it was NOT a cool week in my office either – humidity was crazy high for Arizona and the AC in my office wasn’t working so I was sweating even more than usual. The scent does seem to wear off some toward the afternoon, but it is NOT replaced by stinky-ness, it’s just less citrusy. It is a dry bar with a wax coating on one side to sort of hold it together, but the coating doesn’t seem to resist being handled day after day and has started chipping off. As long as the bar doesn’t fall apart on me (doesn’t look like it will) it doesn’t bother me any! You just rub a little on each under arm – it leaves a little powder behind, but I don’t have to worry about getting deodorant/antiperspirant streaks on my clothes anymore (small victories!). I apply at 6 in the morning and I’m pretty much good all day. If I have been sweating A LOT I might put some more on when I get home if I don’t shower right away, but I don’t put it on after showers at night anymore and I don’t wake up stinky (which I TOTALLY would have before if I had forgotten to put something on!). I’m not sure I would ever feel comfortable putting nothing on, and since I don’t wear much perfume or body sprays due to allergies and headaches, it’s nice to have a little clean scent to carry around on me all day. TFG_TrustedI haven’t used my TFG Trusted seal in quite a while, but this product definitely deserves my seal of approval. I wouldn’t complain if they came out with another scent (the only other deodorant bar on their site is patchouli and I can’t stand that scent – plus the formula seems a bit different), but I’m totally content with this one. So if you are like me and:

  • sweat even when wearing antiperspirant
  • are tired of feeling stinky every time your antiperspirant wears off
  • are tired of overpaying for antiperspirant
  • like citrusy scents
  • want to use a more natural product on your body

BUY THIS PRODUCT.
